In the middle of CIA headquarters, there sits a sculpture that contains a secret code that has stumped top cryptologists for decades. In the late 1980s, artist Jim Sanborn was commissioned to create a sculpture to be displayed at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. Knowing some of the world's top intelligence officials would see the piece practically every day, Sanborn made a work of art that is, in a word, puzzling. Unveiled on November 3, 1990, it's called Kryptos, and it contains a cryptographic challenge. Surely, someone would crack the code in just a couple of weeks, Sanborn thought. But no one did. An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has been killed after suspected kidnappers abducted the wife and child of a reporter with the Voice of America, VOA, in Kaduna State, yesterday. Nasir Birnin-Yero, the reporter, told newsmen that the abductors, about 30 in number, attacked his residence in Birnin Yero, near Kaduna around 1:30a.m. According to him, “they came to my house at about 1:30a.m. I was not at home then, but they forced themselves into my house and asked my wife about my whereabouts and she told them I was not at home. “They vandalised my television set and refrigerator before taking my wife and son, insisting that they must lead them to me. “One of my neighbours, who works with FRSC, Sabitu Abdulhamid, was shot dead by the kidnappers when he rushed out in an attempt to save my family. Yemen blockade: UN warns of 'untold thousands' of deathsRebel-held port of Hudaydah, Yemen (7 November 2017) Three United Nations agencies have issued an urgent appeal for the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen to fully lift its blockade of the country. The World Health Programme, World Food Programme and Unicef said the reopening of government-controlled air and sea ports this week was not sufficient. The closure of rebel-held ports was "making an already catastrophic situation far worse", they added. Without fresh supplies, the agencies warned, "untold thousands" would die.
